Having read the reviews for Nespresso machines on amazon I decided to listen to the many recommendations that had been made for the various machines. I opted for this model as I thought it would be a simpler task sorting out the milk.

I've had it for 3 days now and just made the cappuccino I was hoping to taste. The build quality of the machine appears good and the 3 year warranty would seem to indicate that they have some faith in the machine. Making a coffee couldn't be simpler and the milk heater/frother works effectively once you get the hang of it and make sure that the milk you put in is cold and straight from the fridge.

The simplicity of the machine means that I have time to make a coffee before darting out to work at 7am something I wouldn't be doing if grinding, tamping etc... was involved. I like strong coffee and I must say I've been impressed with the quality and taste of the coffee, certainly no different than most coffee shops and you have the opportunity to make sure you get the mix right for your own tastes (for me that means very little milk and more froth) something that often is quite variable at coffee shops.

Ordering from the Nespresso website was easy and standard delivery came the next day. I am a little bit concerned about the level of waste but apparrently you can recycle the pods, something I will check.

I haven't owned other espresso machines and in the past have used a french press, however I have been impressed with the quality of the coffee made with this machine.

One of the only negatives I have so far is the design of the milk frother which means you have to be careful when cleaning/washing it as the element is part of it meaning you can't dip it in water and need to use a wet cloth. However, this hasn't been too much of a pain and certainly something I can live with given how well the machine works otherwise. Certainly something I would recommend.

I first saw this model at a friends house and although I loved the cup of coffee she made me I felt it could have been a bit hotter. Decided to buy one anyway and if you follow the instructions to the letter you will get a very hot cup of coffee. You must run some water through first before you put the pod in the machine, to warm up the pipes and it helps if you put your cup under the hot tap in your sink for a minute to pre heat it before you put the coffee in.

I did quite a bit of research before buying this machine, but what clinched it was when I saw one behind the bar in a hotel in Scotland (to my surprise, it's for domestic use I thought) and I asked the manager what did he think of the machine ? He replied with one word - "outstanding". The next day I ordered it.

In the pictures it looks a bit quirky - in the flesh it oozes quality and looks fantastic. It performs superbly.

Bullet points:

Espresso is perfect, hot and with a good crema
Aeroccino frothing device is easy to use, easy to clean and very effective. I read one review saying it was fiddly to clean - not at all. It takes about 80 seconds to produce hot milk or hot frothy milk, depending on your preference. While it's doing that, you make your espresso.
Extensive choice of capsules available. Delivery service is excellent (we use them at work also)

Even my wife who is a technophobe and calls me "gadget man" has started making herself a latte on a regular basis.

Negative points - absolutely none. Cannot fault it in any way.

What can I say? This is the Mauviel heavy copper Jam Pan at an exceedingly good price. As you would expect the thick copper spreads the heat very evenly, I have used it six times, producing a rapid set with great results and no burning. A word of caution though. Being copper it is sensitive to the acid in fruit. You shouldn't macerate the fruit in it (particularly overnight), and I add the sugar and the fruit to the pan at the same time, to reduce the discolouration and taste problems. Superb for the larger quantities, although I still use a wide flat stainless pan for one pot jams.

I received this machine a few days ago and so far I've been very impressed by the results. I have tried it with ground coffee to begin with and the taste was clearly better than my old KRUPS XP4000 delivered. However, if you have a machine like this you would almost certainly not use ground coffee as the results when using good quality coffee beans are impressively better.

But lets take it one aspect at a time.
Easy of use. I would say it's relatively easy to use once you set it up. The manual is not brilliant but good enough. Like all machines it takes a few goes to get your head around it but once you do, that's it. Very simple! Press a button to get your creamy espresso and then put your cup under the amazingly designed milk nozzle to get your perfect froth every time.

When you have finished, the machine will rinse itself. You just need to take the used ground coffee and the water from the tray and depose of it.

Speed. It's quick. You turn it on in the morning and by the time you fill the water tank, get the milk out of the fridge and take your cup from the cupboard the machine is ready for use. If you are making a few coffees for your guests just make sure your water tank and milk jug are full and carry on. No need to do anything between cups.

Design. Excellent! Very well thought out. The minute you open the box you can see German design written all over it. It looks like it's built to last. But this feature can only be tested in time. Perhaps I'll review it again in a year.

It really does what it says on the box. It's automatic, quick, consistent with both coffee quality and frothy milk. I have no negative comments at the moment. Hopefully this will remain the case.

This is the third machine our family has bought . absolutely great coffee, beans to cup, any type you like. our best buy for ages, have had great fun experimenting with different beans, its amazing the difference that can be found, easy to operate, very easy to clean all in all a very good product. The machine from Amazon came in from Germany with 2 pin continental plug so you will need an english adapter, only a couple of bob , to use. i have had my machine for 2 years now and its used every day , several times a day !! happy days !!

This replaces a Gaggia bean to cup machine which was very good, but not a patch on this one.

From the moment you start using it, it becomes clear that Siemens have thought through the design and the functionality of this machine. It works - of course. But, equally importantly, it looks good, and it it functions in a way that strongly suggests the design has been thoroughly thought through. The Gaggia never gave that impression. German design, perhaps, as against Italian?

Obviously, it produces cup after cup of excellent coffee. That goes without saying - or it should do. But it's also very easy to use once you've mastered the controls, and it has an impressive logicality to the way it works.

The hot milk/foam function, for example, (for cappuccino and latte) works well, but also requires very little effort to clean afterwards - unlike the Gaggia. There is an impressive array of settings enabling you to alter very easily the style of your coffee, or the way the machine works. There is also a very useful Eco button which will put the machine to sleep whilst it's not in use, so that it's not keeping the water in the tank hot all day unnecessarily.

The only slight problem I've encountered (and this is borne out by a relative who has the same machine) is that quite often when the machine hasn't been used for a few hours, the coffee beans do not find their own way into the grinder - a quick stir of the beans in the bean container will resolve the problem, though.

These machines aren't cheap (though you can pay a lot more for others) but if you like good coffee without all the hassle of making it, you'll very much appreciate having bought it.

I have had one of these for about 20yrs, together withn another £1000 worth of Le Creuset. It has withstood regular use, although I have had trouble with the lid handles disintegrating on a couple of items. The new ones seem to use a different material for the handle. It does give good results, but no better than stainless steel which is much cheaper and more importantly lighter. My doctor tells me that the large Le Creuset dishes are just too heavy for a woman to lift, certainly my wife cant lift the bigger ones. So I gradually find I am replacing Le Creuset with stainless steel from WMF etc. Perhaps Le Creuset looks better on the table

Great for risotto, this super CAST IRON SHALLOW CASSEROLE (aka The 'BUFFET CASSEROLE'), from Le Creuset.

Approximate Capacity: 3.2L

An old favourite of mine, the shallow wide base of this particular casserole, allows maximum contact between food and heat and the even heat retention enables cooking efficiency at low or medium temperatures, helping to conserve energy and keep fuel bills lower....particularly important in the current climate!

If you are looking for inspiration, Sue Cutts, one of Le Creuset's consultants, has a chapter dedicated to the use of the SHALLOW CASSEROLES in her book:-

The Cast Iron Way to Cook

and my current favourite recipe is:-

'Vegetable Casserole with Crispy Topping'

from page 29, which serves 4-6 as a main course or 6-8 as a starter/side dish.

Suitable for any hob-top or pop it in the oven, elegant enough to take directly to the dinner table, especially with the well-designed low lifting handles. Simply the perfect dish to brown off under a hot grill, too!

Easy to use and clean by hand, although some soaking may be required to remove the more stubborn stains.
Dishwasher safe.

Sturdily boxed, complete with CAST IRON use and care leaflet.

This really is a fantastic dish to have in your kitchen. You can fry off bits on the hob then add the rest of your ingredients and pop it into the oven. It cooks evenly, and keeps the heat if your placing it on the table.
Just soak it in hot water with a splash of washing up liquid and it cleans off easily.
Great dish and worth every penny.
